Harry Potter!

Hey freaks, why are you people reading this when you know there's something better out there? YES! Harry Potter, Hermione and the hideously on-screen represented one are BACK! hmmmm, no idea what to say without posting spoilers, thereby getting cursed/slapped in face by newly-purchased book/forever hated and mentally spat upon, actually. but from my frenzied reading of the first few chapters of the book, I would like to solemnly declare this: if you don't have a copy snuggling in your lap right now, run, fool, run to one of the greatest literary accomplishments in History. mind you, you biddah be running towards a decent bookstore for your copy, and not to frickin' Carrefour, Tesco, or some other evil corporation if you know what's good for you. otherwise, nyuk nyuk nyuk..... I suppose you know how many Potter Nutters there are out there, and we all know how available potentially maiming objects are just waiting to be picked up and ruthlessly applied, don't we now?

oh my gosh! WHAT AM I DOING? I need to get back to my current alternative world before anything slips! can you not hear the sweet brilliance of Hermione beckoning?

but of course, I have an ulterior motive, hehe, you know. there MIGHT be a contest between me and some people, and it MAY have been concerned with speed reading, haha. but this is all hypothetical, you understand? no need for any head shaking, eye-rollings or Parliament-ish punishments. now if you'll excuse me, I mean to go striding into the unknown world of Magic till dawn dawns, haha. see you in a new forever-changed Life!

"Lovely" Header

Hey guys, check out the new header! Isn't it "lovely"? *grins*

Anyway, it took me and Kee more than 5 hours of photoshopping to get it done. Hope you guys like it. =)

Comments/criticism are welcome!

And do notice that I've left funny bits of parody in the picture ala Da Vinci Code style. hoho.

Btw, GOOD LUCK and ALL THE BEST for eos3 results later at 5pm!! ^v^ See ya around.

PS:
For those who cudn't figure out why we use House as part of the header, (besides the obvious part that it is a medical drama too), it's becoz we found tat we cud equate or parody some of the characters into our beloved lecturers. To find out who's who, check out the comments. =)

PPS: Oh ya, just a disclaimer, me and kee made this header just purely in the name of fun. We do not mean any harm nor meant for it to be degrading or insulting. Actually, we respect the lecturers that we parodied. hehe.

IMU Cup - Cheerleading

This is about our cheerleading m106 =)

M106!! , just wanna know some views and answers from u all ..

1. Anyone who is not interested already or is interested to join? there's limited space (25 person), so if there is too many, we need to choose if thats alright.

2. The cheerleading competition is on the final day of the IMU Cup 07, either 25th or 26th Sept. And as u know, we're starting our sem 4 on the 3rd Sept =( . There's only 3 and a half weeks to practice.
I'm not very very sure that we can finish, but i'm also quite sure that we can, if the choreographing is done before practice. Really need to work hard with some of the cheerleaders to plan a routine.
What are ur comments, my lovely batch?
Should we come back 1 week early before we start our sem4 ?

3. Any songs u guys found that can be used for our routine this year?

4. Ok. The most important.
There will be a 2-day cheerleading workshop by the cheerleading association Malaysia.
This is to change IMU's view on the cheerleading competition so that this year's competition will be something like Cheer 2007!

Date: not comfirmed. One on Aug, another on first week of Sept especially for us when we're back.
Time: About 9am - 2pm both days (weekend)
Fee: RM20 or less. i know its alot, but Kah Yee is trying to negotiate. So ''ka yau'' to her.

They will teach us basic moves for cheerleading.
Examples are,
cartwheels,
jumps,
touch toes jump,
cheers, chants, cheer moves,
transition from a dance to a cheer,
throws, carry extend up above ur head( thats what james and kajen wanna do),
One boy carrying One girl,
landing,
basket toss ( jeremy, aaron and sree) =)
carrying a girl who stands with one leg,
theres more...

sorry guys, dont know the exact term for all this movements. Ten-ni teach me!

IT WOULD BE SOO GREAT IF THE WHOLE TEAM GOES FOR THE WORKSHOP.!!!!
Pass this msg around.

I NEED YOUR IDEAS OR COMMENTS.. DONT COMMENT IN THE MSG BOX BUT COMMENT IN THIS POST. OKIE?

Ching Li
See u tmr for results.

p/s: Teams have started their practice (sem1, sem2 sem 4 and pharmacy) =.=

NO RESIT OSCE!!!

Yes ppl, as the title mentions, there's NO RESIT!! I repeat NO RESIT!! Hahaha... So now we all can go and really enjoy ourselves!!

I knew the results would be out at 10am this morning so I set my hp alarm to 10am. True enough, in less than 5 minute after I woke up, I received a sms from ZY stating that there's no resit and viva list will be out tomorrow. I even called Thuan Tzen to double check the message and yes it was confirmed!! I called up my friends to spread the word. The next thing I did was to come online and post this good news up here. Even as I do so now, I have no brush my teeth nor wash my face!! (I know I should leave the details at home but this is such a joyous occassion I just don't mind!!)

I was really expecting to resit, since I heard that there was leak of the questions. Even as I pray to God, I struggled to keep faith that He would bring our batch through this. I kept telling myself to trust in God, as long as the result is not out. Yesterday night, I told myself : If there's no resit, it can't be anything else but GOD.

As you guys can see now, I'm a Christian. I'm not trying to propagate my faith here, but I'm just sharing from deep within how I feel everytime God brings miracle in both small and big ways into my life. On friday as I was lamenting on the possibility of resitting, my friend told me nothing is impossible with Him. Coz my God is bigger than you think. Amen to that!!

Now ppl,the only other hurdle for us is tomorrow's viva list!! I'm sure most of us are afraid of the worst, and seriously, nothing is for sure. Pray hard and ask God to cover and bring our batch through this once again!!

OSCE re-sit =(

For those who haven’t known about the news, please do not be shocked when you read this. (no kidding..i'm serious..)

The history of Semester 5 is going to be replayed. Unfortunately, this time it may be happening on our batch. Mobile phones were brought into the quarantine room by students during OSCE despite being reminded and warned several times. Dr. Thani and others invigilators had had a meeting in the evening discussing whether we, the whole batch are supposed to re-sit for the OSCE or not. According to AAD, they are still looking into the matter and currently no decision is made yet. They will probably come out with their final decision on next Monday (9th September) and it will be posted up on M106 notice board.

If you have read this and heard about the news, kindly please spread the words to your beloved friends so that they can be emotionally prepared and wouldn’t be too excited thinking that the EOS is already over and that they can relax. Just be prepared for the worse. Most likely there will be a re-sit. Everyone please pray hard that the exam coordinator will give us a chance and we don't have to go through it again. Pray....

Please be chilled and do not get mad at those who brought their mobile phones into the quarantine room, even if we really have to re-sit for the exam. I believe they wouldn't want this to happen too. I hope that all of us will learn a lesson from this unfortunate incident. Hopefully it is NOT going to happen again in the future, in Semester 5 EOS.

Remember to spread the news, be prepared and at the same time, PRAY......

Medical school??

For those in desperate need of a distraction,

Here's a little article i read BEFORE applyin into med school...

A practising and future doctor share their thoughts on the joys and tribulations of a doctor’s life*.

SO YOU’VE decided to choose medicine as your career.
What led you to decide to dedicate your life to humanity, working long hours, surviving on hospital cafeteria food and putting your own life at risk by attending to sick patients with highly contagious diseases? Are you ready for it?
But before we get to that issue, let’s explore how you’ll be able to cope with life as a medical student – the lowest in the hierarchy of the medical profession. It’s a five-year course riddled with more challenges than the Temple of Doom can cough up, and if this were the medieval ages, with barrels of oil for the lamps to literally burn the midnight oil. Still adamant about taking it up?
Congratulations, you’ve just earned yourself a one-way non-refundable ticket to eternal suffering. As most medical courses would undoubtedly cost an arm and a leg, the first step in deciding to take up medicine is the family coffers. Do mum and dad have the cash to sponsor you all the way? Are you receiving financial aid? If the answer is yes, then get set to dive headfirst into the unknown. Forget the old adage of looking before you leap. Because where you are headed, sight is subjective. The eye does not see what the mind does not know. As a medical student myself, I have had countless guilty feelings about costing my parents so much money. We did not have enough to meet the requirements of the course, so we approached banks for loans. I, of course, had to endure countless hours of lectures from my parents and siblings. They wanted to be sure that I knew what I was getting myself into and what I was getting them into! As my brother once put it: “Don’t forget, you’re not the only one who has dreams!” Which, translated roughly, means that I am digging in too deep into their pockets. One of my friend’s fathers who is a doctor took it upon himselfto discourage me from taking up medicine. He told me to be a hawker instead. That way, I will earn more, spend much less on tuition fees, lead a less stressful life and get to spend more time with my family. Financial problems aside, assuming you have cleared all that now comes the second but crucial part.
Results. No medical school of the modern era has ever admitted students on desire alone. It’s results that count. Some institutions require almost perfect results, others will settle for slightly less. As one institution boldly postedon their website “Students who do not possess near perfect results need not apply”. That alone signifies two things, that the institution is well known, thus admitting only the crème de la crème. It also implies that medicine is a profession which allows almost no room for error. But aren’t the doctors we see everyday just human like you and me? Take away their white coat, medical degree and the almighty stethoscope and they could pass for one of us. Aren’t humans supposed to be less than perfect? Oh, I’m drifting here. In psychiatric terms, that would be circumstantiality. English please? Well, it means digression into unnecessary details that distract from the central theme, whereby the central theme becomes the focus once again after the digression. That’s English? Ok, back to the point.
In order to gain entry into any medical college, most applicants have to go through a screening process. Now that the government has decided to implement the aptitude test for potential medical students, it should provide a solid platform in gauging the interest of students. However, like Moral Education, which most of us took and passed, we actually would have loved to keep the RM100 we found or ignore the rubbish lying on the ground instead of picking it up. Get the point? Ok, you’re now cleared for entry. Passed the financial barrier, passed the results barrier and of course passed the interviews and aptitude tests. What now?
Time to pack up and leave for med school. Bring your books, testimonials, certificates, medical apparatus and cash. Not forgetting your mobile phone, computer and trusty discman. But please I beg you, leave your ego behind. Think you’re too smart and you’ll be humbly proven wrong. As smart as you are, there are others who are smarter. One thing I’ve noticed in medical school is that intelligence doesn’t count, hard work and discipline does. If you have these two vital components ingrained into your character, medical school will be almost a breeze. If you are smart without the dynamic duo, you may find the going tough. When the going gets tough, only the tough get going. The tough here are those students who study day and night, not you there partying all night long. Oh no,I’m not against parties, I’ve been to my fair share. Just a piece of advice, party all you want, but don’t forget your priorities. There is a saying that once in medical school, your life ends. That, of course, is not true. Haven’t we all heard of the guy who parties all night and scores adistinction in his exams? Watched Patch Adams? Study, study, study. That’s what medical life is all about. Studying. To attempt to cram as much information as we possibly can into our brains and be able to recall them when needed – namely during exams, vivas and clinical rounds. For the uninitiated, vivas are like the oral exams we went through in school. But we can’t call it an oral exam inmedical school, can we? We have to establish a lingo to confuse the general public and us medical students. Everything has to be different from the general public, so that we as future doctors or even as medical students stand out. We don’t say a patient sprained his ankle, we say dislocation of the ankle joint. We don’t use the term skin doctor, we say dermatologist. That’s one more point in medical school –terms, terms and more terms. Terms aside, another useful aid in medical schoolis undoubtedly mnemonics. Mnemonics do play a key role in remembering the various facts on display in books heavy enough to suffocate when placed on our chests. You will need time to memorise the mnemonics itself as there are simply too many of them. The fancier the mnemonic, the more apt you are in remembering it. However, do not be happy yet. There have been many times during exams where I actually remembered the mnemonics but forgot what they stood for. Still think you’re cut out for the job? Think you have what it takes to endure five years of intense study and hard work and a lifetime of full time dedication to humanity?

Then I bid you welcome to med school.

HANDPHONES NOT ALLOWED IN OSCE EXAM

Dear all,
there has been an unforseen case that happened in the sem5 eos when 31 students who adamantly brought in their handphones into the osce exams and THE WHOLE BATCH had to retake their osce exams again.

Please by all means do not attempt to bring in ur handphones because that will only cause extra work and stress for the rest of your batch mates and as well as fueling the anger of the sisters and the lecturers who are supposed to be marking our osce papers.

Please do not bring in your handphones be it how small it is. A thorough body check is done upon ur sitting of your osce exam.

with regards and of well wishes,
jen lye and xandra

p/s please forward this message to as many as you can..

IMU Cup
The annual IMU cup is about to come soon. The tentative date for this event is from 3rd of September onwards. All those who will be representing our batch shall start training after EOS 3. *we must gambate for Imu cup oh!!*

Changes in Reproductive System Course
Introduction of "Guided Reading Session". This session will be included in the timetable and students will be given a list of reading materials (reference texts or online articles) which is specific and relevant to the topic. The content of this session is examinable. *gasp - more work!*

Introduction of "Integrated Medical Seminar". A talk on a particular topic will be given and then a few students will be selected (not sure yet how the selection will be done) to do some research and to present their findings to the class.

IMU New Building
The construction of the annex wing – the new block should be completed by the middle of this year. Once it is completed, there will be renovations of the main building (the building that we have our activities all these while) from ground floor to the 3rd floor. There’ll be a connection between the annex wing and the 4th floor. Most of our activities shall be carried out in the new building and 4th floor. I’ll update you all once I get more information from the SRC. *wow, new building eh, hope it's nice!!*

New Canteen
Yapaf Catering and Restaurant Sdn. Bhd. is now taking over Pak Amir’s Cafeteria. The owner is Mr Haji Zainal. The canteen had started operation on 28th May 2007 (Monday). "Let's go and give them support...!!!"

Forum
It is a sad thing that the IMU forum was hacked few weeks ago, but don't worry as the SRC are now working on revamping the Forum. Many thanks to Aditya and other SRC members for their hard work.

Class Allocation Timetable
Timetable of all programmes and all batches in IMU is put up on the notice board at ground floor between CSU and ping pong room. It tells us the place where a particular batch is having lecture or other activities at a particular time. This is to prevent students from complaining about being chased out from e-lab by the pharmacy. Please take note of the date and time that the e-lab will be occupied for teaching purpose and avoid using that lab during that particular hour.

Virus
Please remember to scan your thumbdrives every time you use it and before you remove it. *or else your comp kena virus then you know liao!*

Infected Laptop & Anti-virus Software
If your laptop happen to be infected by virus in the campus and you wish to reformat your laptop,
Or if you want to install a new anti-virus software (AVG antivirus – free edition), you can borrow the installation guide from Kee Ping or from the SRC room.

Color Printer
A new color printer has been installed in the plug and play room (next to e-lab 1). Instructions to do color printing can be found there. Whoever doing any printing in the room please remember to check the printing status first before clicking the 'print' button. The default status is set to color printing. RM 1 will be charged per color page.

Intercom and Log Book
Intercom in the e-lab can be used to call Helpdesk for assistance. Instructions to use the intercom can be found above the intercom itself. Please remember to jot down any complaint in the log book regarding the facilities in the e-labs.

Dress Code
All students are to follow the dress code in the IMU premises.

Punctuality
Please be punctual for all lectures and other activities as stated in the timetable.

Lao Zha Bor's Rap (with Eng Subtitles)

3# S.A.D. (Uncensored + footage ver.)

Another valentine's day around the corner.

And it has nothing to do with the sausage gang.

For people like we all, we hardly got related to valentine's day. Our life is plain simple, sleep, dota, lecture, sleep, dota, eat, dota.

Alright, i'm excluded from that group actually. My daily routine is about the same, but just except the dota part.

I'm no longer playing dota anymore, since i suck big time. Besides, i have some other better ways to spend my cash and time.

Wednesday, i walked into the campus through the basement car park.

There was 2 couples walked passed me. All 4 of them looked sweet. And there were 2 more girls who holding a big bunch of flower and another one with a helium balloon.

How sweet huh.

When i met my friends up, i could see that single people like me were smiling like we never did before. All sat around a table and laughing to each other.

S.A.D. which stands for, Single Awareness Day, someone called it. Instead of celebrating Valentine's day, we all were celebrating an S.A.D.

The price of flowers, especially roses, will grow 10 times more than usual. Furthermore there will be more "Valentine's Special" goods such as watches, t shirts, handphones which will suck out one's wallet.

Anyway, jobless people like us will have nothing particular to do on that day for sure. Before the lectures started, a few of us gathered. With a flower that one of us brought, we did some mtv-ish thingy to freak out our friends.

The brave one

And the not-so-brave one

The following responses were obtained:

First - "What are you doing~~~~~??" (ran off...)

Second - "Huh? What?"
Third - "....."

Fourth - "F*** off, j***..."

For your information, i didn't do those. I was just sitting there, take pictures, videos of those, and said "lol".

Bye, Rotations and Hi, Sem 3 (well, soon anyway)

Right... I haven't been blogging at this blog for a long time now coz been busy with lots of stuff lately (and actually I don't have anything really interesting to share) but today I have some news.

Okay, not exactly earth-shattering news, but news good enough to make at least some of our batchmates take notice.

In less than 1 week, we'll be starting our new semester. Semester 3 ade! *high five*

And some of you must be wondering... "Hmm, so when are we supposed to start class?"

Fear not. Timetable for Respi system and Groupings for sem 3 are all available under the "downloads and links (Medicine)" at Imucampus Forum. However, you have to register as a member first to download the stuff. :P

Okay, that's my "news". So much for it. Haha. Anyway, do enjoy the remaining days of rotations, peeps! And cya guys next week! =)

E CubE

all about it......

to all of you ppl who dunno wats ecube...its Extreme Eco Expedition that was organised by the one n only campus frens club. The camp was for 3 days 2nights....most importantly it was rite after our cvs exams...so there was no time for me to think bout the exam coz we had to leave imu bout 530pm.....but obviously we left later a bit...coz sum of the sem2 s were either busy changing or getting luggage from frens place....but i mus mention that our dear fren dits...jus started packing for camp at 530....n as u figured he was the d last one to board the bus...n the only place left was beside me!!!!!( those who have beeen vicitms of aditya punches will know y)...hehehehe jus kiddin dits...he was so cute coz he din have a clue where we goin too.....actually our camp site was Dusun Eco.. sumwhere pass bukit tinngi but still in pahang...

ok ok enuff crappin, let me tell you wat happened there....1stly let me tellyou that most of the committee was our very own sem2 campus frens...so we actually put lots of effort to organise the camp....of course i have to mention that kenneth from sem5 ( current)..is the president of the camp n witout him we would have done anything...

about 50 ppl took part...n there were broken into 5 teams ( let me jus tell you the sem2 s that were in each group) ...Benign bananas - sree, victor Rhemuatic rendang - aaron lai, ching li, kee ping Cystic choc - aditya, swarna Necrotic Naan - Leong, pui fun & InfArcted icecream - fiona, naomi, rachel n sze wei.

( i have posted the must-see single pics that mui how has taken of all sem2 ...look like the contestants of malaysian idols ..hehehehe)

on the 1st day, once we settled down in our dorms nad had dinner.. the 1st activity was night walk...however kennth, li yann, james, zi yun n myself din go coz we had to find locations for the treasure hunt that i planned for next day.....after that was ice breakers....that was the time we got to know the other participants who were m206 batch n the nursing batch...

2nd day was really the highlite...coz we had jammed packed activities...started the morning with obstacle course, then flying fox n rock climbing....next was the treasure hunt that i organised ( its actually like a treasure hunt amazing race style) after lunch n tea...was the water games...n free time...at night we taught the campers all the funniest camp games that i'm surew that sum of guys also know...like cup game, mafia game, elephant, rabbit, cow game...buaya biawak game, saliva game....n so on....then bout 1030 the whole scenarion of the camp turned gloomy for the murder game.... bout 1230 we continued playing cards n it lasted for another 5 hours.....

on the last day...we announced the winners of the e cube games...n it was the benign bananas...after taking sum pics..we said our goodbyes to dusun eco coz our next stop was Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary....there we watched a video bout conservation of the wildlife...n then we played juggling (!!!!)....once the elephants came out...we bathed n fed them...n also got to ride on it as well....it was a super cool experience.... that was bout the end of the activites...bout 400 we left n reached imu bout 530....on sunday....ECube in my opinion was super fun n it great that so many sem2 came n supported campus frens....thats d way guys!!!! to those who missed it...dun worry there will b more activites organised very soon.....hope u enjoy the pics i posted...
